Hi Buffy, Hi Nathalie,
First of all, I’d like to say how impressed and inspired I am by you two women. I had to stop my car while listening to the interview, and give a silent prayer of thanks for the fact that you live in Ottawa and take the time to care about the people around you.
Question: I live in the Glebe, have three small children, and am part of a vast network of families with a great deal of “gently used” children’s clothing, furniture, and supplies (including breast pumps, baby Bjorns, etc.!). I also have a van. When you have families with children – to whom you are delivering furniture – do you think these families would also
appreciate a delivery of children’s stuff? I was thinking that if you let us know what that specific family needs (beyond furniture – snowsuits, toys, clothing, whatever), we could follow the furniture delivery with a special “kid’s supply” delivery tailored to that specific family’s needs.
The school where my children go has many children who come from recent Somali immigrant families – your story touched me on so many levels.

You folks deserve a ton of credit. You are doing a marvelous job for our community. We really appreciate what you are doing, hats off to 'ya? What time do you finish last night with your drop off to the family from El Salvador? I mentioned your project to the owner of my company today & he said that he often has washers & dryers from the apt's that he owns. He could donate items down the road to you. I've given him your e-mail. You've created a monster ! :)
It was amusing last night, how quickly people start to find more stuff for you. We put together an extra box of hats, scarves & gloves and our neighbour ran up to his house & came up with 4 kitchen chairs.
Good luck finding some storage space. I hope there is a generous landlord out there who can donate some.

I was listening to CBC radio this morning, and heard about your plight to help the unfortunate coming from other countries. First I would like to say that you are both amazing for volunteering your time and efforts.
There must be some very grateful people out there who you have helped.
I would like to talk with you to see how I may help. Perhaps you need help with delivering or picking up some of the furniture being donated.
I feel so fortunate to have what I have, and it would be a great feeling to give something to someone who really needs a hand. Looking forward to hearing from you. :):) Volunteer |

Hi Buffey!
It was wonderful to meet you, Nathalie, Tom, Louise, Miguel and Marina last night! I had a great time and was really really touched when Francisco said a prayer at the end of the night (even though I am not religious myself, I have a strong admiration for the social justice work that church groups do, and the strong faith in Latin America).
I was really overwhelmed with emotion when we learned last night that the family didn't have any food. Would it be okay for me to bring some by their place tonight after work? I don't know if this would be okay or not, so please let me know. I don't think I remember the address either, but would really like to help them get on their feet with some food!
